Vacuum skin packaging (VSP) uses a specially designed top film that conforms closely to the product and seals to a compatible base tray under vacuum. This helps minimise headspace, hold the product in place and limit purge migration within the pack.
For suitable meat, seafood and prepared-food applications, VSP can help extend shelf life and create a clean, premium retail presentation. Performance depends on the product, film and tray combination, sealing process and storage conditions.
Suitable pack designs also support vertical display, helping retailers use chilled display space efficiently.
