Omnichannel broke the old assumption that a pack only had to do one job. The same SKU now sits on a shelf under retail lighting and also travels alone through a parcel network that will drop it. Those are different engineering problems and most packaging is optimised for only one.

The practical answer is usually a primary pack designed for shelf and a secondary system designed for transit, specified together so you are not paying twice for the same protection. We build both sides.
